Writing About Aliens

You might think that I’m going to share with you my feelings about all the current political focus on illegal aliens, but no. I want to talk to you about my relationship with aliens who are not only non-native to the United States but are external to our world. That’s right – those aliens. What?

When people talk about those aliens, they typically assume it’s something from outer space, extraterrestrial beings with large heads, bulging eyes, and perhaps some tentacles.

What if all the encounters with alien life that have been recorded throughout human history were interactions with beings from parallel worlds rather than extraterrestrial visitations? Given the vast distances between star systems, scientists are generally skeptical that aliens could or would make the trip to Earth.

On the other hand, many notable astrophysicists and mathematicians, as far back as Isaac Newton and as recently as Stephen Hawking, have devised mathematical models that suggest alternate universes could exist in another dimension next to ours.

You may not be surprised if I told you that I think about this a lot. As you can see from the photograph above, I often commune with aliens. Okay, they are actually just a product of my active imagination, but I’m pretty sure they are among us. I mean, have you ever been to Walmart?

You may also wonder why I’m blogging about aliens. I’m glad you asked. I have recently completed the revisions to two of my earlier novels and combined them into a two-book series. I want to tell you about them, and hope to arouse your interest to the point that you will be counting the days until you can purchase them.

What If

What if the aliens were minuscule parasites genetically programmed to invade a sentient host and multiply inside its brain? What if those parasites were also developed by advanced beings from a dying world as a means for surviving in another, more promising world? What if those parasites were created to reproduce into highly intelligent colonies designed to take over and control the invaded host by integrating with its brain? What if they later learned that controlling humans was inherently difficult and that they couldn’t maintain complete control? And, what if those beings happened to be a squadron of US Marines deployed on a United States Naval Expeditionary Strike Force?

The Books

Oh yeah, it’s a good story, alright! The botched invasion occurred in 2018, and the hybrid alien-Marines didn’t know how to survive the aftermath of an impulsive mutiny they staged on the USS Wasp. Yikes! The rest of the world goes crazy, but never fear: Chase and Wolf O’Brian, retired ranchers and generally cool people, team up with Tick-Sool, the leader of the Talbeekean world, to save our world and the alien-Marine hybrids.

And that’s just the first book – INVASION. There’s another whole book in the series called A NEW ORDER, which tells the story of what happens to the stranded alien-Marine hybrids 50 years later. But wait! It gets better. In 2068, the world is on the brink of collapse, and the human population has been decimated. The best hope for human survival is the uber-intelligent hybrids from the Mind Meld compound. I know what you're thinking: Brilliant!

Both books of the series are scheduled for release on August 29. Only $15 each – a real tariff-busting deal! If you haven’t perused my website recently, you really should take a look at the “Next Book Project” here to get more information.

If you have read the original novels, you will be pleased to know that the new release is a revision that reduces the page count by 150 pages and is illustrated by my friend and talented artist, Jim Richards. The covers are also completely different. Book I, Invasion, is a satirical look at what would happen if all the “what-ifs” really happened. It’s a thought-provoking story that isn’t as far-fetched as you might think.

Seriously, you really should go look at the “Next Book Project” tab. There are a couple of samples of the sketches that will be included in the book.
