I have been a sci fi fan since I was a kid, which was a long time ago. The first sci fi movie I ever saw was The Forbidden Planet in 1956. I loved Robby the robot! So, it's no surprise that my second and third novels were a science fiction tale of an alien invasion and survival in an apocalyptic world.
The first book, Mind Meld, takes place in 2018. The second book, The Eighth Day, occurs 50 years later in 2068. These stories are soft science fiction because it allows me to focus on the characters, their interactions, and their psychology rather than technology. There is plenty of science in these books to be sure!
I rewrote the books because I'm a better writer now and I wanted to make changes that I thought would enhance the reader experience. AND - I wanted to add illustrations to this version.
ILLUSTRATED
This second edition will include illustrations of the characters, created by Jim Richards. The figure, below, is Gunner Sergeant Buford Bodine. He becomes one of the alien-human hybrids, and eventually a cyborg with a brain.
DESCRIPTION
The new Mind Meld Inc is a two-book series telling the story of an invasion of tiny alien parasites intent on emigrating to the human world by infesting the brains of their victims, using them as a host. These invaders are not from outer space. They are from a parallel world in the multiverse.
In Book I, the invasion goes wrong from the very beginning when they discover that humans, especially the U.S. Marines they targeted, are difficult to control. An unlikely coalition multiples worlds band together to save the world and the aliens.
In Book II, fifty years later, the world is in catastrophic shape. Multiple disasters have decimated the planet and everything on it. Meanwhile, the alien-human hybrids have thrived at Mind Meld Inc. They and a small company of surviving Marines and Homeland Security agents become the last chance for restoring civilization.
